Common questions
How do I open the tank?
Rest the pointer on the notch for a moment. Move the pointer away and it closes.
What do the fish mean?
One fish per open app. Bigger fish use more memory. Faster fish use more CPU. Point at a fish to see its numbers and actions.
What is the water level?
Your Mac's memory pressure over the last few minutes, like the chart in Activity Monitor. High water means plenty of room. When it drops and turns amber, a pufferfish suggests which app to quit.
How do I quit an app that uses too much memory?
Point at its fish and click Open to bring the app to the front, then press Command-Q. macOS doesn't let App Store apps quit other apps for you.
How do I change the theme?
Right-click inside the open tank and choose Theme.
How do I start it at login?
Right-click the open tank, choose Theme, and turn on Open at login.
My Mac has no notch.
The tank hangs from the middle of the menu bar instead.
How do I quit it?
Right-click the open tank and choose Close, or quit it from Activity Monitor.
